Norwegian soccer players create electric shock soccer (video) | Off the Bench

OK you know I dont like schock collars. You know I live to use humor in my training, and you know it drives me nuts when folks say shock collars don't hurt. So you know I was in Heaven when I found a video that illustrated all three! Even if it is no in English, you will have no problem getting the point! My dog pulls on the Leash…So What Do I Do Now???

Several months ago (or maybe longerJ) I wrote an article on “Why Dogs Pull on the Leash.” And while it was well received, I left those who were already having issues with dogs that pulled on their leash to wait for the next article for help. Well, after several reminders via email (thank you to the readers!) I have finally gotten around to writing it. So let’s get started!

De-Bunking the "Alpha Dog" Theory - Whole Dog Journal Article

Well thought out article about the differences between dominance or alpha type training vs. positve reinforcement training. I really like the fact that the disagreements are based on facts not emotion. Remember that one of the main ideas in Positive training is to ignore the bad and reward the good. It drives me nuts to hear positive trainers trashing other trainers and their methods. We know what we believe in and it is up to us to show by the dogs we train. Misreading Dogs « Wilde About Dogs

I just love this author and her blog is really cool! This article drills home the point that learning to speak dog as second language (DASL) is way more important in the long run than any amount of obediance training. Don't confuse my meaning here obediance is important, but ask yourself how on earth are you going to teach commands with out being somewhat profecient at reading your dogs signals??? About Me

My Photo

Being able to train “any dog” is really not the question to ask.  As far as I am concerned, training people is a much more effective way of solving problem behaviors in dogs. What I do is nothing new or magical. I use basic behavior theory, and positive reinforcement techniques to change behavior or teach proper ones to begin with. There are many ways to train a dog and if done right, none are any better than the other.  I want all of my students to understand that positive reinforcement is, in my opinion, the best and fastest way to teach a dog. Please take the time to go to my website www.muttzrus.com and look at my blog (keep it simple stupid pet blog) and decide for yourself. You should not make training decisions based off of a brochure; talk to at least three trainers; check out blogs and get references; then make your choice. I hope that in the end you will choose me as your trainer
